Messy crop, tanned skin, eyeliner, tongue stud, leather stilettos. How else can you work it for everyone back home?

Soul Food

I finally kept to my promise and cooked Tim dinner after he's cooked for me "like a million times," as he claims.

See how he repays me after I present him with an olive pasta, rosemary lamb chop and butter-sauteed asparagus combo?

Twister!

I'm a Twister champion!
Yes, it's true. And I have the proof from last night's Curtin Public Relations Student Chapter event...

Here I am in my very first position; Right Hand on Red:
Twister Begins

Here, I have finally gotten all four extremities in their respective spots:
Twister Stage 1

I finally find myself (in a horribly unphotogenic angle) fighting it out for the prize with a young, enthusiastic guy.
"Dude, just quit, you'll never win!
And look, my hand is dangerously close to your balls..."
*Evil snigger*

Twister Final

In the end, the game took so long to come up with a winner, we're both awarded prizes in a tie. He got a frosty mug, I got musk-scented candles. FUN!

Lunchbox

Woke up on this lazy day and read the Southern Gazette, our community newspaper.
Found the cutest adoption write-up ever:
Pups For Adoption

Later on in the day, Michelle and I ended up tanning in the park down the road while we read up on our research for our essays:
Us in Park

This is how it all started - Michelle says the sun looks good today. We decide to catch some rays while we do our work. Since we're both hungry, she cooks nasi campur from whatever we have in the kitchen:

So, from this:

We get this!

Yellow Brick Road

As I mentioned in an earlier post, our 70-year-old landlord is redoing the brickwork on our porch. I am starting to like the results, but here's some photos of the process. Will post the final look of it when I actually come home in broad daylight again...

Cecil, my landlord, doing a good job and dodging my camera at the same time:

Almost done!

Sunny Afternoon

Blue Sky with Lamp Post

Yet another nice day when I left for class today at 9:30am, so I made a mental note to take pictures of the flowers along the road on my way back.
More for Mum to "oooh" and "aaah" over!

These few are commonly found along brick walls, ledges and flanking the gates to the large compounds found along Hensman Street:
Purple with Dandelions

Next, I found a yellow species of the bottle brushes, or at least I think so:
Yellow Brushes

And there was another one of those red bottle brush trees with a ridiculous amount of flowers:
Lots of Bottle Brushes

Also, along the street you'll find lots of hedges, complete with tiny little dots of colour courtesy of little flowers like these:

This little sapling is growing strong next to a sprinkler:

And this bunch was growing randomly out of nowhere amongst a row of purple flowers:
Red Pansies

More purple ones to add to yesterday's collection:

Pink Bunches

This hibiscus is my Dad's ultimate adversary; it could literally kill him. It might come in handy if I decide I could do with some extra insurance money, right Dad? *snigger*

This is lavender in full bloom, and as u can see, the bees love them:

Pink chrysanthemums, I'm guessing:

It must be said, in spring, flowers can grow everywhere and anywhere, even through crevices in a driveway:

Here's a lonely bunch of fiery gerberas around the corner from my bus stand:

A lonely dandelion under a eucalyptus tree:

And unusual light lavender bells reaching out toward the sun:

Also, I've noticed the Australians like roses A LOT. For example, like in this garden round the corner from my place:

There are yellow roses:

Some Other Spring

Woke up today at about 10am after receiving a call from my landlord asking permission to come repave the porch next week. He intends to redo the brickwork, the latticework and create a private area for our apartment so that we can put out lawn furniture. Just in time for this sunny weather we're getting, I say!

Still dreary-eyed from yesterday's late-night DVD session, I decided to have a no-brainer brunch consisting of buttered toasted English muffins, chicken soup, blackcurrant and pineapple juice, and the weekend paper, of course:
Sunday Brunch

After brunch, I threw some stuff into the laundry, opened up all the doors and windows and realised how warm a day it was; a first ever since Spring officially began in September. It was nice and sunny too so I decided to go out and snap some photographs of the flora that I've been meaning to capture for Mum. Better than going to Araluen Botanic Park anytime! And just so you know, these are the ones that can be found within the apartment complex alone, I didn't venture out further today because I was just too lazy to lock the place up...

This bright pink periwinkle is found just outside on my porch:
Pink on Porch

There's this huge pink rose bush just outside as well:
Pink Rose

Walking out towards the main road, you'll find bunches of these white specimens in front of the "Authorised Vehicles Only" sign:
White at Entrance

Looking out towards Canning Highway, you see this bottle-brush tree on the corner:
Bottle Brush Tree

Those trees are scattered all over our compund and have these cute little fruits:
Bottle Brushes

Down by our post boxes you'll find a row of interesting little shrubs like these yellow gems:
Yellow at Post Box

These tiny, white flowers:
Tiny Whites

And their purple compadres:
Tiny Purples

Walking towards the Milson Street access to our compound, you'll find other very interesting flowers like these yellow ones with their spiky leaves:
Yellow at Car Ports

These are the only blue flowers we have in the complex:
Blue at Car Ports

So thankfully they are sprouting along the length of 3 of my neighbours' car ports:
Blue Hedge

I found this fuchsia bunch hiding along the fencing:
Fuschia Bunch

And these white peonies are growing out of Unit 8's garden:
White at Unit 8

Outside Unit 3, you'll find these crinkly red ones sticking out towards the driveway:
Red Crinkle Head 01

And across from the red ones above, these pale maroon sprigs also reach out toward the driveway:
Purple Sprigs

With these light coloured daisies, we commence the invasion of the purple fever:
Bright Purple Daisies

A lavender bulb:

Blooming stalks of lavender; cute aren't they? It's even greater that they smell good too:
Blooming Lavender

And royal purple daisies:

Finally, at the exit to Milson Street, you'll find these bright orange flowers:
Orange Daisy

Obviously, when it's a warm, sunny day like this, you wouldn't expect to be the only one to step out and catch some rays:
Jeb the Cat 01

And don't expect to be left alone either; company tends to want to make conversation:
Jeb the Cat 02

So here's a final goodbye from Jeb the Cat:
